I checked mine every 10 000kms, I replaced mine 2 times over 4 services. Now with the upgraded fuel pump, I guess it wouldn't hurt to check it every 5 000kms? I stand to be corrected but I rather be safe, it is so easy to check it yourself as long as you have the right tools.

hi guys im quite new to this.... I have a 2005 gti axx and sounds like a diesel when it's at idle... rpms are not intermittent and cars idle does change when pulling out dip stick at idle witch means pcv valve still in working order I stand corrected..... changed oil to castrol edge 5w40.... when car drives just about over 7000rpm the noise goes away... I haven't checked cam follower as I'm not sure if that could be the problem but have the replacement part... I've also checked out some other posts online and said there cold be a leak on down pipe..... any advise?
