GTi 7 Brake Pads

Postby Nike16vs » Wed May 08, 2019 6:27 pm

Hi Guy's

What are replacement brake pads for Gti 7? Everyday driving stock car. How soon do I need to change pads once the warning light comes on?

Hi bud, just go to goldwagen they gave me febis and they were ok. A bit noisey but did its job.
Id do it as soon as possible once light comes on, you probably have plus minus a month of driving.
The rear pads are a bit of a mission and require vcds just a heads up.

Thanks for the reply. Why do I need VCDS or Obeleven? If I put the ignition on, switch off the ebrake, I can hear it retract, if the car is in neutral, it can be pushed, so what does VCDS do?

It works with an electric solenoid. It cant be retracted without VCDS operating the solenoid to open and allow the piston to be pushed back.

It doesnt wind all the way back.
You can operate it like PDF said, how i did it the first time by disconnecting the solenoid and winding back manually.
But easier to use vcds has a brake lining function, takes 2 min.
Just watch a couple videos this is an expensive lesson if not done correctly, i know i cooked one of my motors.
