Help - Flat Spot???

Postby sparky-gp » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:12 am

Hi Guys

I need some help..I have a golf 5 gti-dsg. On hard acceleration on the 5th gear the car hits a flat spot/dies at around 5000rpm. When i down change or put the car into 6th gear it comes right. I have changed the plugs and fuel filter so far after this issue and still have the same problem. Anyone experienced the same.

Thanks

More info Required:
Is the vehicle modified? List the mods
does the vehicle have software?
does the flat spot occur at that rpm in any other gear?
have you scanned the vehicle for errors? What is the error codes?

Software wont miraculously repair underlying mechanical issues. Get the critical measuring blocks such as fuelling, timing and boost logged as the ECU is protecting the engine from self destructing by going into limp mode. Then work from there.

My brother had a similar problem..but he had a flat spot from about 4500rpm. He fitted a hpfp and it’s sorted now..but best to get the car scanned first so that you don’t spend any money on unnecessary things.
