I wonder if the new rs3 will have the same issues with the pistons being a weak point?

is the motor and turbo the same as the 8P RS3?

I would also like to know ?

As far as I can see the 2 motors are identical, I could not find any forum or write up suggesting that they are indeed different.
the only major changes was the boost pressure on the new 8V been more than the 8P, and the fuel pressure (possibly different pump but not sure)

If these engines are indeed the same and uses the same pistons/conrods/crank shafts/injectors etc then I would like to know how the reliability is now on the 8V. if it's fine then is the cases of the 8P a case of bad tuning causing the failures (I know of one RS3 but not sure of tuning house).

Yes Audi got a new motor in the TTRS I think the turbo and fueling is diff in the current rs3 as if u look the the dyno charts the car makes torque very early in the rpm range no lag at all compared to 8P rs3 with k16 turbo maybe it's a IHI turbo like the 7R in the 8V rs3. I know the old rs3 pulled loads of timing from the factory and responds well to octane so I know of 3 8P rs3s with melted Pistons

Motors are identical in the 8P and 8V. Turbos too. Audi have revised their tune and chasis/haldex with the 8V.

The 8P pistons were not an issue. It was the fuelling on these motors. Motor would usually starve for fuel on cylinder 1 or 3, causing them to run lean and pop. From what I understand, they have tried to sort out the fuelling issue with the new RS3 but not sure to what extent.

Yip same Turbo's, found a site that had both engines in detail ... (took some searching :-) ) but the same engine same turbo, boost and fuelling is different. (fuel pressure is different) boost is slightly higher.

So my question is what needs to be done to a 8P to ensure that fuelling is correct surely this cannot be to much work. ?
