Car static after waxing

Postby PDF_27 » Fri Sep 02, 2016 2:43 pm

Hi guys

After waxing my car, which I enjoy doing from time to time, it becomes a dust magnet. The car stays cleaner if I just don't wax it as the static attracts the dust when I do.

Any tricks on how to rid the car of that? I dunno if a normal flood rinse and wipe down after waxing will remove the static? Or will it take the product off in the process?

Try using a quick detailer on a clean MF cloth to wipe off any wax residue. The invisible residue is what attracts the dust

What wax are you using? I have the same issue with Maguires Ultimate wax. Will notice sizable amount of dust after a week from washing. I tried King of Gloss and dont get dust on the car.

I'll still use the Ultimate wax because I need to finish the bottle. Wont be using it again.

I'm using the Maguires Gold carnauba wax... Tried the suggestion MagZ made, wiping off the wax with a quick spray of quick detailer to a microfiber cloth and turning cloth over on dry side for final wipe. Doesn't feel as if it's removing the wax, feels perfect, and seems to have done the trick. Will give a week or so and see how it looks.

Get rid of the Meguires, I used to use Meguires and I had the same dust repellent problem

A good quick detailer may aid, but I would try brands outside of meguires range as well

After washing, I would use the quick detailer while drying the car. That didnt help. Car still collected dust during the week. Very disappointing to put all that effort into applying wax and seeing dust settling. This is one of the problems with the meguires wax. Looks nice after applying.lol.

Try something from Crazy Detailer.
